Choosing the right self-regulating heating cable
Each RAYCHEM cable type is optimised for a different temperature range and application. As a self-regulating (or power-limiting) cable, it varies its heat output along its length in response to the surrounding temperature, so it cannot overheat or burn out — even when overlapped.
- BTV – Freeze protection and low-temperature maintenance up to 65°C. The everyday choice for pipes and vessels.
- QTVR – Higher output than BTV for freeze protection and process maintenance up to 110°C, ideal for larger pipes with greater heat loss.
- HTV – High-power output for demanding process maintenance at elevated temperatures.
- KTV – Process maintenance up to 150°C on pipes and vessels that require steam cleaning.
