Choosing the right self-regulating heating cable

Each RAYCHEM cable type is optimised for a different temperature range and application. As a self-regulating (or power-limiting) cable, it varies its heat output along its length in response to the surrounding temperature, so it cannot overheat or burn out — even when overlapped.

  • BTV – Freeze protection and low-temperature maintenance up to 65°C. The everyday choice for pipes and vessels.
  • QTVR – Higher output than BTV for freeze protection and process maintenance up to 110°C, ideal for larger pipes with greater heat loss.
  • HTV – High-power output for demanding process maintenance at elevated temperatures.
  • KTV – Process maintenance up to 150°C on pipes and vessels that require steam cleaning.
  • XTVR – Robust performance for high-temperature applications and frequent steam cleaning.
  • VPL – A power-limiting cable for high-temperature process maintenance, delivering high output while reducing the number of circuits required.
