CMP compound barrier glands seal the individual cores of the cable with a two-part rapid-set compound, so that an explosion inside an Ex d enclosure cannot travel along the interstices of the cable. The PX2K version terminates steel wire armoured (SWA) cable with an armour clamp and an outer seal on the sheath; the PXSS2K version terminates unarmoured and braided cable with a braid termination. Both are supplied by CMP Products and sold by us as the barrier gland alternative to our own TEF E204/622 and E205/624 Ex e glands where the enclosure or the code of practice requires a barrier gland.
Application
- Ex d and Ex e enclosures where a compound barrier is required, for example flameproof enclosures with unfilled cable interstices
- Armoured SWA cable (PX2K) or unarmoured and braided cable (PXSS2K)
Selection
Select the gland by thread size, then by the outer diameter of the cable and the maximum diameter over the inner sheath (bedding) given in the table: the “S” and “S/16” size codes cover the smaller cable diameters within the same thread. Brass is standard; nickel plated brass is listed for the armoured versions M20 to M40. Weights are per gland.
Documentation
CMP’s own datasheets, installation instructions and Ex certificates for the PX2K and PXSS2K series are sent on request together with the quotation. For our own Ex e glands with datasheets on this site, see the TEF E205/624 and the E204/622.
