The TEF 9204 stair heater enclosure keeps outdoor staircases on ships and offshore platforms free of ice and snow, provided the heater is switched on before the ice builds up. Each enclosure has room for six equally spaced loops of QTVR self-regulating heating cable, giving an even heat transfer to almost the whole surface of the step and excellent mechanical protection of the cable. The 662 mm version delivers about 200 W per step; the 762 mm version (92040750) about 230 W. The cable is bought separately in a length sufficient to run through all the enclosures of a staircase: it starts in the upper or lower enclosure, runs from one step to the next and terminates in a junction box, and the enclosures are assembled with the cable before the complete unit is mounted under the steps. All self-regulating heater installations require a 30 mA earth fault switch. Datasheet TPS6453, manual TUM6410.
