The TRANBERG® TEF 1058 capillary tube thermostat pipe mounted controls self-regulating heating cables in hazardous areas, zone 1, zone 2 and safe area, without any electronics: a 1 m capillary tube with a 6/1.5 mm sensor bulb acts on a change-over switch with 16 A switching capacity. It is built on the TEF 1058 heat trace junction box in electropolished stainless steel AISI 316L, developed and manufactured at the R. STAHL Tranberg factory in Stavanger, and Tranberg thermostats are found on most oil installations in the North Sea. The pipe mounted version sits on the traced pipe with transition units for the heating cables.
Application
- Temperature control of heat tracing for frost protection and temperature maintenance in hazardous areas
- Chemical and petrochemical industries and industrial plants, according to NORSOK requirements

Selecting the right thermostat
Choose the setting range that covers the maintain temperature of the pipe: −20 to +50 °C for frost protection, 0 to +120 °C or 0 to +190 °C for temperature maintenance of process lines. The wall mounted version is used where the thermostat cannot sit on the pipe. For set points with PT100 sensor and 3 °C hysteresis, see the electronic PT100 thermostat. Heating cables are connected with the connection kit for pipe mounting.
