The TRANBERG® TEF 4900 Commander is a scalable control and monitoring system for COLREG navigation lights and signal lights, delivered according to the vessel’s specification and developed and manufactured at the R. STAHL Tranberg factory in Stavanger. A separate operator panel with custom text and graphics is installed on the bridge; the CPU and output modules sit on a DIN rail in a cabinet, connected by an RS-485 network. The system handles 24 V LED lanterns and 24 V or 115/230 V filament lanterns, switches automatically to the spare lantern and to emergency supply, and reports to VDR, CAM and BAMS over a serial link in compliance with IEC 62923.
Application
Control and monitoring of COLREG navigation lights and signal lights on vessels: navigation lights, signal lights, Suez lights, ROV lights, towing lights and Panama lights.
Features and benefits
- Control and monitoring of 24 V LED navigation and signal lights, and of 24 V and 115/230 V filament lights
- Backlit operator panel with custom text and graphics; main and spare lantern in the same button
- Audible and visual alarm, common alarm output and alarm silence I/O
- Automatic switch-over to spare light and to emergency power supply
- Serial communication to VDR, CAM, BAMS or other supervisory systems
- Provisions for compensating voltage loss in long cables can be delivered

Approvals and certificates
- DNV type approval; ABS certificate of design assessment
- IMO Res. A.694(17), IMO Res. MSC.253(83), DNV rules for classification of ships and offshore standards
- IEC EN 60947-1, IEC 60945:2002, IEC EN 63000:2018, IEC 62923
The general datasheet, user manual, technical papers and certificates are listed once above the table; the datasheet for each module type is available on its row.
Selecting the right parts
Start with a complete system and the operator panel size that fits the number of lanterns. Add output modules by lantern type and voltage, 4 or 8 circuits each, plus a dimmer module for Panama lights or a flasher module for blinking signal lights where needed. Legacy part numbers marked in the table are sold as spare parts for older systems only. For smaller installations, see the TEF 4800; for deck and helideck lights, the TEF 4500 Commander Utility.
